"I WANT YOU 2 LIVE" T-Shirt specially designed for Action for AIDS by UK Singer and DJ, Boy George, declaring his wish for all who struggle with HIV/AIDS.
Boy George is the vocalist for the ever so influential pop band in the 80s, Culture Club, and an LGBTQ icon whose success in the music industry had paved the way for many other queer icons to surface. He first mentioned AIDS in a song called “Generations of Love" produced in 1991 because he felt that dialogues about HIV/AIDS should be out in the open. “Generations of Love" was also propelled by the death of his friend of 15 years, Stevie, who passed on due to AIDS and never told anybody until they were hospitalised.
In an interview, Boy George expressed words of enlivening for PLHIV and their support network;
If you go around hiding your true self, then you create a monster and that monster is far more destructive than anything you can imagine.
Your life is your responsibility. But when it comes to your own life and your own body -- which is the temple of your soul -- you are responsible for that.
With your support, we can work towards our continuous mission to raise awareness of HIV, lower new HIV transmissions, and eradicate HIV-related stigma & discrimination in Singapore.
